Turn Gocco Printer into a UV Exposure unit

Tuesday, June 7, 2016

For my printmaking projects, I turned a Gocco printer into a mini UV Exposure unit.

Do you remember Gocco screen printer invented in Japan from the'70s? Gocco process screens with flash bulbs and print. Although the product is discontinued, some people still use Gocco to print their artwork.

I simply installed a 4W lamp unit to the lamp housing of Gocco.

The lamp house, itself can be used for other projects that need UV like curing UV-resin.

Built in On/Off Switch and 6V AC power jack.

The unit has a thick foam pad. On top of the form pad, there is thick clear acrylic plate that presses a film onto a photo-polymer plate or screen. I use two snap locks to keep the film and plate together tightly and make almost airtight during UV-exposed.

With this unit, I did successfully process some photo-polymer plates.
